This is the second episode of 9-nine. When a large earthquake struck the university town of Shiromitsugawa, the sacred treasure in the Hakuda Tsukumo Shrine was damaged, and mysterious objects called "artifacts" began to appear from a parallel world. These artifacts granted special abilities to those who possessed them. There was an incident where someone abused these powers and turned people into stone. Kakeru, who has a strong sense of responsibility, assisted Miyako in seeking the culprit. His innocent little sister, Sora, also joins them in investigating the serial petrification incidents as they unveil a mysterious group and hidden feelings. A world existing on one of the branches of possibility. There, artificial magic circuit devices called Artifacts were created,and the miracle known as magic became accessible to everyone. In order to control that immense power, the people established the Artifact management organization Sephiroth,and under its management, research on Artifacts continued to be conducted day by day. Then, new arrivals appeared at Sephiroth. A girl who manifested magic far too powerful for her body to contain, and a young man assigned as a researcher to treat that girl. The promise the two swore becomes a possibility,and extends a new branch in this world.
