Resource Maintenance Guide
Learn how to maintain game download resources on Shionlib: editing resource information, adding and replacing files, viewing the change history, and recommended conventions for the replacement reason.

Who can maintain resources
A resource is maintained by its uploader and by administrators, from three places: the resource card on the game page, the resource page, and the My uploads page, which lists only the resources you uploaded.
The menu in the top-right corner of a resource card applies to the whole resource. The actions visible to you depend on your permissions:
- History — shows the replacement records of the files; visible to everyone
- Edit resource, Add files — only the uploader or an administrator can use them
- Update the patch — only on a resource composed with a patch; the uploader or an administrator uploads a new version of the patch, and the resource is composed again with it
- Report — visible to users other than the uploader
Replace file, Rename and Remove, which apply to a single file, are in the menu at the end of each file's row on the resource card, and are likewise visible only to the uploader or an administrator. A file that uses the canonical file name has no Rename; to rename it, first turn off Use the canonical file name in Edit resource.
On the resource page and the My uploads page, the file actions are also inside the resource's menu: when the resource has several files, click the name of the file first, then choose the action.
Editing resource information
Click → Edit resource to change the information of the resource, without touching the files themselves. The fields are the same as when uploading (see How to Upload Game Files): platforms, languages, engine, translation, edition, form, extras and note. When editing, the translation and the form may be left empty for now.
Under File name you can turn Use the canonical file name on or off: while it is on, the file name follows the changes to the resource information; once it is off, the file gets back the name it was uploaded with.
Save when you have finished; the changes take effect immediately.
Managing the files in a resource
A resource can contain multiple files.
- Add files — in the resource's menu; adds new files to the resource, for example a missing volume. Until the new files pass the checks, the files already in the resource are not affected.
- Rename — in the file's menu; changes the name of the file.
- Remove — in the file's menu; deletes the file from the resource, and a deleted file cannot be restored. When a resource has only one file, it cannot be removed.
Re-uploading (replacing a file)
When the original file needs to be updated, use the replace feature to update the current file.
Click the file's menu and choose Replace file. A file that is still being checked or saved cannot be replaced.
Replacing puts the new file in place of the current one. The old file will be deleted, and this action cannot be undone.
Steps:
- Describe this update in the Reason for replacing field
- Select the new file and start the upload
- After the upload completes, the new file goes through the checks and takes the place of the original file once it passes
Conventions for the replacement reason
Write a concise description to help downloaders understand what this update contains. Recommended formats:
Version update: v1.0 → v1.1Localization patch update: fixed several translation issuesMerged localization patch, no separate installation neededFixed corrupted file, re-download recommended
The replacement reason ends up in the change history, so please fill it in carefully.
Change history
Open the resource page and switch to the History tab to see all changes made to the resource since it was published.
Each record contains:
- The type of change: publishing the resource, replacing a file, renaming a file, adding a file, removing a file, editing the resource information, clearing a file after review, composing the resource or composing it again, and changes the system makes itself, such as finding a disc image in an archive or filling in the form from what the check found in the archive
- The files involved, and the content before and after the change
- The replacement reason (if one was given)
- The operator and the time
History in the menu of a resource card, by contrast, lists only the records of replaced files.
Deleting a resource
Uploaders can remove files from a resource, but cannot delete the whole resource. When a whole resource needs to be deleted, contact an administrator.
